East Asia 2010

The Good News
Before we arrived in Asia, there were 20 projects planned. When we arrived, 5 projects were cancelled and 5 more were added, a 25% change. We were reminded that we are on the journey with the living God and He does whatever He pleases. The June team (lower left) had an excellent servant spirit in the midst of change. They arrived at the most intense moment because of the recent arrest of pastor J, our partner in the gospel. The Lord was gracious to not only grant him release after 36 days, but to give courage to the mission teams to carry out cross-cultural projects with some modifications. We were overjoyed to see the Lord’s faithfulness in answering prayer and providing. Thank you for your prayer support.

The Power of prayer
I was praying on the last morning of our American Life Camp in Taiwan, very aware that we only had three hours left together. There were still 7 students not had a chance to hear the gospel. I decided to turn to the Lord and commit each one in my group into His hand. Bianca walked into the roomand greeted me with excitement: “Dad, Janice prayed to receive Christ last night”. I was so thrilled to see prayer answered through my daughter’s faith.

The power of authentic Christian living
One of our teams spent four days in five local resident’s homes to celebrate both American and Asian festivals with their “households”. As we were getting on the bus to leave, four teens decided to come along for the ride. It was our break in the middle of the mission. We shared 15 testimonies on the way to our destination. Then all four teens went with us from 8:30 to 21:00 for sight seeing. They had water fights, they shopped and worshipped the Lord in the bus for 1.5 hours. All four accepted Christ that evening. These teens witnessed authentic Christian living, they had fun and they saw the love of Christ and the craziness of believers. There is no reason not to believe.

As for me, I am in awe to see how over 5 years the Lord has taken one little summer mission trip and expanded it from one project into 20 projects this year. There were a total of 30 salvations this summer. Everyone took part in seeing people come to the Lord. Some of the conversions were a result of two years of contact. There are open doors for the gospel all over Asia.

Would you consider joining with us in this challenging adventure next year, as good soldiers of Christ?
